Stage 3

PROCESS SNAP #11

Handrail build WIN

PROCESS SNAP #12

Material Fit off External, a combination of wood, steel and glass

PROCESS SNAP #13

Add Daylight Settings to get an idea of shadows + wire frame

PROCESS SNAP #14

Create Section to design internal lattice feature and lighting fitout

PROCESS SNAP #15

Just applying the finishing touches

Stage 2

PROCESS SNAP #6

Adding my feature ceiling component + creating glass for upstairs bar

PROCESS SNAP #7

Wire Frame

PROCESS SNAP #8

Creating wallls for my services area (kitchen, storage, bathrooms etc)

PROCESS SNAP #9

Sliding doors open into outdoor eating area! Starting to add materials

PROCESS SNAP #10

Massive Glass Wall (embrace view of Riverside)

Stage 1

PROCESS SNAP #1

Get 3D model to a stage where all walls and structure elements filled in as this process is too difficult in the later stages

PROCESS SNAP #2

Built Fire escape and access stairs to all floors . In the back ground you can see my component for my curved ceiling. Feature element!

PROCESS SNAP #3

Starting to isolate different spaces

PROCESS SNAP #4

Full height (floor to ceiling) windows for my walk-in-cafe

PROCESS SNAP #5

Tinted glass to intended colour. Created component for my branding! (this symbol is my icon for the restaurant and was inspired by one of my initial sketches)

Key Stages in the 3D modelling Process

The following post will demonstrate key stages in my 3D modelling Process. After experimenting with 3 different programs (Google Sketchup, 3Dx max, and Revit) i decided to use Google Sketchup as it was the easiest to model my complex design!

FOLIE DESIGN FINALISED

FOLIE CONCEPT development and REFINEMENT

Came up with Folie Design straight away, but decided to explore a few other options before refining this design

Exploring other concepts using the triangle as inspiration

Changing structural qualities of the triangle

Stretching and twisting the triangle

Concept is getting close, chose to stear away from a more vertical looking structure

CONCEPT REFINED

FOLIE Concept REfinement

CONCEPT REFINEMENT

The story bridge became the focus of my design. it creates a vital connection between Kangaroo Point, the city (CBD) and Fortitude Valley... The connection creates a triangle when viewed in plan...

Looked into traingles, their shape, geometrical qualities
- strongest geometrical shape
- tesselates
- story bridge is made up of triangles

Triangular connection evident in plan

Brainstorming concept

PARASITE Story Bridge.. CONCEPT triangle

This page finalised the direction of my concept! i knew at this point i wanted to emphasize the function of the story bridge

Initial Folie Concepts

Inspiration from Church of Light... could my folie design play importance on light?

Experimentation with stretching canvas, link to ships sails! Link between folie and story bridge (this sketch at the bottom of the page played a vital role in the direction i took with the folie design)

CITY Walk to Howard Smith Wharves

Images below demonstrate the analysis of brisbane square, roma street, and brunswick street. Key findings show relationships between public and private space, pedestrian vs vehicular traffic, and fundamental environment considerations
